Dear Family and Friends,
Greetings from India! We had a very good flight over via Toronto, Washington, Qatar and Hyderabad. After clearing customs we drove about six hours directly to Nuzvid on Wednesday and are enjoying the hospitality of the Moses Enjati home. There are six of us in our group staying here at the Enjati Elegant Estate and it truly is a very lovely place to stay. This is the first time that we are staying in a home and are enjoying it very much. We will be having our meals here, too, and the meals so far have been very good. The Nuzvid Church is in walking distance.
Tonight the meetings start. The conference executive secretary will be the coordinator for our meetings as well as being our translator. There will be people coming in from seven area villages by truck and also people from the local town. Here at Nuzvid there is a small Adventist hospital, a nursing school, a lab tech school, training centre for pastors, and a school from grade school through grade 12. Larry and I sponsor a child in about grade 2 at this school and we am looking forward to meeting him.
Yesterday Larry and I drove about an hour away to Ibrahimpatnum to attend the wedding of the son of the principal of the Miryalaguda School. The groom is the accountant at the South Andhra Section office and the bride is a minister's daughter who graduated from Surat Adventist Hospital with a B.Sc. in nursing. The wedding was to start about 4:30 pm but didn't until about 6:00 pm which is common in India. We used the waiting time to visit with Elder Jesurathnam, SAS Section president and his wife and others that we know at the conference. It was a very interesting wedding with about eight ministers taking part in the service. The bride wore a beautiful dress and her attendants wore brown trimmed with white. All went smoothly. Because of the lateness of the hour, we did not stay for the reception.
There are two other teams with us and these will be doing three villages each. There is another series also starting tonight--Nancy Woorley's with her friend Melissa from Oregon. Thank God for dedicated women! Involved with these four series are Larry and eight ladies. As usual, we ask that you pray for God's blessings on all of the meetings. We certainly need His help and guidance.
In Christ,
Joyce (and Larry)
