On March 11th, 2006 the
Willowdale Youth department hosted its
first Parents Forum, complete with breakfast
treats. Parents were requested to join
the youth and the Youth Council, to discuss
current issues youth deal with. Parents
and youth gave valuable qualities that
youth leaders should have and a positive
list of suggestions for future programming
and activities. The main goal of the Parents
Forum was to inform parents of the mission
and plans of the Willowdale Youth Department;
and to get their feedback on how to respond
to their children’s questions on
drugs, sex, unemployment, spirituality,
violence etc.
The Willowdale Youth Department would
like to see more parental involvement in
events, programs and to keep them informed
of upcoming plans. The Parents Forum is
planned twice a year to maintain a close
relationship with parents & guardians.
It was a blessing to have the support of
our parents and to see the dedication of
our youth leaders. The next Parents Forum
is scheduled for September 2006, please
join us!
